Maentu
Maentu
Maèntu takes its name from the Mistral wind, which constantly blows across western Sardinia and accompanies the life of the vineyards. It is not only a natural element, but a presence that shapes the landscape, protects the vine and defines the character of the wines.
The project was created to tell the story of a direct bond between nature, community and wine production, where the territory is not simply a geographical origin but an integral part of the wine’s expression.
Each bottle thus becomes the reflection of a balance: between sea and land, climate and human work, agricultural memory and contemporary interpretation.
The Project
T h e S t o r y o f t h e W i n d
Maèntu was born as a wine project built around the natural identity of Sardinia. It is not just a line of wines, but a way of interpreting the territory through its most essential elements: light, sea and wind.
Inspired by the Mistral wind, a constant presence that crosses the island and accompanies grape ripening, the project translates this natural balance into wine production: respect for nature’s timing, agricultural continuity and the enhancement of traditional local varieties.
Wine thus becomes a direct expression of the environment. Through vine cultivation and the daily work of people, nature is listened to and brought back into the glass, preserving the recognisable character of the island.
Maèntu tells the story of an authentic Sardinia, where each harvest renews the same bond between territory, community and agricultural culture.
Location
S a r d i n i a
In Sardinia, viticulture develops along coastlines exposed to the sea, bright hills and soils shaped by the wind. The Mistral wind constantly crosses the vineyards, naturally drying the grapes and helping to preserve their balance and integrity during ripening.
In this landscape, where nature and agricultural activity have coexisted for generations, wine production represents part of the local culture as well as a productive activity. The intense light, constant ventilation and mineral-rich soils define the character of the wines and their recognisability.
Here operates the Santa Maria La Palma cooperative winery, a historic name in Sardinian viticulture committed to enhancing traditional varieties such as Cannonau and Vermentino. The collaboration with the Genevitis project ensures production continuity and commercial distribution while maintaining the connection with the territory.
Wine thus becomes a direct expression of the island from which it comes.

Philosophy
N a t u r a l R h y t h m s
Maèntu is based on an essential principle: wine is born from the balance between nature and human work.
Production follows the rhythm of the vine and the climate, enhancing the environment without forcing its processes. Wind, light and soil become an integral part of the final result, while the work of people accompanies the growth of the grapes with continuity and care.
The aim is not to standardise the style, but to keep the identity of the territory recognisable, respecting the original characteristics of the local varieties.
The project thus interprets wine as an authentic expression of the island, capable of bringing together agricultural tradition and contemporary sensitivity.
Branding
T h e V i s u a l I d e n t i t y o f M a è n t u
The image of the line was born from the interpretation of the Sardinian landscape and its natural elements. Wind, sea and light become the starting point of the graphic project, transforming the atmosphere of the island into a visual language.
The forms and surfaces evoke the materials of the territory: rock, sand and Mediterranean vegetation. The aim is not to represent a specific place, but to convey a feeling, restoring the perception of the environment in which the wines are born.
The visual identity thus becomes part of the story: the label accompanies the wine and anticipates its character, suggesting freshness, energy and naturalness.
The packaging therefore translates the experience of the territory into immediate communication that is consistent with the project.
